I’m not clubbable

I am not a group person. An actor once said he was not “clubbable” - meaning he could not join in easily to a club’s set of values and mix it with a bunch of very like-minded people.

To be part of a tight group one has to be malleable and give up part of one’s values for the sake of the group ethic. I never could compromise like that. They even get upset if you disagree a little bit. The tribe dictates these silly rules (often in contradiction to ethics and basic human rights).

I get bored. If everyone in the group is left leaning, sensitive and caring – then Larry David and I feel sick and just have to be the total opposite! And vice versa.

Its a bit lonely sometimes but who could stand being calculating and bullied.

There are so many interesting people in the world, they are just rarer and they do not belong to tribes.

Further reading, basically anything written by Margaret Atwood, particularly her genius novel Cat’s Eye, or George Orwell like Animal Farm, Watership Down and Lord of the Flies.
